7 questions for Helene Clara Gamper
# 1: “What do you like most about your job?”
That I'm involved in a wide variety of industries. This diversity is definitely an enrichment for me – both as an entrepreneur and as a private individual.
What I particularly like is the creative, inventive idea. This creative element, bringing something new to life, this "turning a small idea into something big" that the whole world can see – that's what I like. And my clients can realize their life's dreams and earn good money with their business, which is a wonderful feeling.
# 2: “What does your daily routine look like?”
It depends on where I work. I usually work from my home office in Innsbruck, Tyrol. I get up at 6:30 a.m., do a little morning meditation, get ready, have breakfast, and head to the office, which is fortunately only three meters away.
I usually start with the main project that's due that day and initiate a "deep work session" – that is, working concentratedly for several hours at a time. Sometimes, however, I give in and open my emails or social media before the client project. Then I get annoyed with myself because that's not particularly productive. But generally, I start with the most important project of the day.
At lunchtime, I check my emails and make calls if anything comes in, and then eat lunch. I generally try to keep my lunch break as short as possible so I can stay in the flow of productivity.
In the afternoon, I continue working, designing for clients, answering customer inquiries, and liaising with my team, depending on what's on the agenda that day. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I'm also available for meetings, sometimes having four or five in a row.
In the early evening, I head to the gym, hot yoga studio, or dance class, depending on the day of the week. Exercise is also a fixed part of my day. This time horizon, set by a training plan, is good for me and has a positive effect on my productivity.
I usually exercise for about one and a half to two hours at a time, five times a week. After the gym, I go home, eat a salad, and relax a bit. Then it's usually 9 or 10 p.m., or even later, and it's time for bed.
When I work abroad (for example, in Tel Aviv or Crete), my daily routine is basically the same. Only my exercise routine might take place at a different time – depending on the temperature and whether or not I have access to a fitness center.
My work routine is the same no matter where I am, but my personal time is structured differently depending on where I am.
# 3: “What are three must-haves for a successful company?”
the most important thing: a great product
understanding customers
first-class branding to make both visible to the outside world
#4: “How do you explain branding in two sentences?”
Imagine a brand like a human body. The logo forms the heart, so to speak. And the branding brings the entire body together, ensuring the perfect interplay of all components. The sum of all the individual parts creates a unique person, or rather, a unique brand. That's how I would best describe branding.
# 5: “What is the most important step in the branding process?”
The briefing, of course. During the briefing, I ask my client a ton of questions and want to know everything I can think of – sometimes I feel like a psychologist. I simply have to understand the inner workings of the future brand in order to be able to reflect that in the branding.
# 6: “What are your private passions?”
Definitely sports; I'm a gym junkie. I love doing various group classes, HIIT, Breakletics, legs bums and tums, Zumba – all with a sweat and lots of energy. I also love dancing and listening to music. And traveling is one of my greatest passions. Immersing yourself in foreign cultures is enriching; you see many things from a different perspective. You learn a lot while traveling, and it broadens your horizons, which I like. Another hobby that comes to mind is saunas. I've been going to the sauna regularly since I was six years old – my parents have a sauna basement at home, so I grew up with it. Of course, I also jump into the ice-cold plunge pool afterward!
# 7: “What is your personal favorite piece of the HCG office collection?”
The stainless steel cup with a red metal straw. I use it every day for my ginger water – it stays warm all day. And it's stylish, too.
