Branding, website design and print design for a local plumbing business

BAD UND HEIZUNG Installations-GmbH ("BUH") from Innsbruck offers professional, complete solutions for bathrooms/plumbing and heating/heating systems. From drains to rubber duckies, everything is available from a single source. To expand their target audience and convince more home builders of BUH's complete service with its unwavering quality, Paul Plattner and his team are expanding their operations.


We were hired to make this visible both internally and externally with a rebranding. The logo design combines the lettering "BUH Bad und Heizung" with a symbol depicting a water wave and a heat wave. The line ends of both waves were manually rounded to create a consistent look with the ends of the Aller Display font in "BUH" and the body copy font Noyh, which also features subtly rounded letter ends. The two waves are not connected, as they represent two different themes. This also allows for separate use of each wave in subsequent content.

The primary colors of aqua blue, firebrick red, and latte macchiato beige convey a cozy, warm, feel-good atmosphere, with aqua blue and firebrick red representing BUH's two main themes (water and warmth/heat). The secondary colors of dark firebrick red, aubergine, moss green, raspberry, and petrol blue support the warm BUH color scheme and can be used as needed in all printed and digital communication media.


For the letters "BUH" we chose the font Aller Display and manually widened the letters to give the lettering even more weight. "Bad und Heizung" is set in Neo Sans Pro Bold, with the tracking manually optimized to make "Bad und Heizung" perfectly legible even in small sizes. The font Noyh is used for the majority of the text. Noyh is modern and has a geometric, grid-like structure with slightly rounded letter ends. This gives the font its cool, matter-of-fact, yet friendly character. Noyh is striking without being intrusive. This is why this font perfectly matches the character and new branding of BAD UND HEIZUNG. For legal texts such as the terms and conditions, privacy policy or imprint, Noyh Slim is used, a slim cut from the Noyh font family. To give the headings a calm yet somewhat majestic appearance, we chose the serif font Noto Serif in a bold cut, set in majuscules (capital letters). The claim or slogan "Mach's glei gscheit" (Make it right from the start) is a relic of the company's old identity and, due to its high recognition value, was to be incorporated into the new branding – naturally in handwriting. Caraban was chosen for this purpose in bold type.

The water or heat wave serves as a visual constant and can be used for different purposes: as a design element above certain headings, as a kind of pin for photos, with less opacity as a surface design, in conjunction with door signs or as a striking recognition feature for car stickers.


The folding business cards were designed in two versions: aqua blue and fire-red. The lower section can be written on, making it practical in daily practice when Paul Plattner is unable to meet his customers in person but would like to leave them a message.


The website, including the mobile site, conveys a sense of calm, well-being, and homecoming. All buttons (menu buttons, contact forms) have slightly rounded corners of 2 pixels to complement the rounded wave ends in the logo design and the Aller Display and Noyh fonts.
