Brochure and web design for a construction company

Holzbau Wegscheider (Pill, Austria) builds beautiful, custom-made homes from natural materials such as wood and clay. In harmony with nature, these building materials ensure maximum health, an optimal indoor climate, and unparalleled comfort. We designed the new 28-page brochure with fold-out interior, as well as the new website (including a mobile website).

Since there were no other design guidelines or existing corporate design concept besides the predefined company colors and the logo, we decided to incorporate the logo symbol, which represents a slanted roof, into the brochure in a few places, for example, in text boxes, the website footer, or even image pages. This creates a subtle connection to the logo.

For the main body text, we chose Fira Sans, a modern, airy, and relaxed sans serif font that impresses with its friendliness and looks great both in print and digitally. For headings and subheadings, we used a stunning serif font called Vollkorn by Friedrich Althausen. It conveys a sense of stability, tradition, and grounding, making it a perfect fit for Holzbau Wegscheider .

Due to its dominance, the full-grain typeface requires plenty of room to breathe. The rest of the brochure's and website's content also needed to appear less "stale" or rigid compared to the previous website/brochure version. Overall, the layout needed to be airier, friendlier, and more accessible. Therefore, we worked with generous white space, enabled by a flexible 12-column grid.

On the website, nature video snippets subtly support the photo strips for a calm, nature-connected feeling of well-being.
